A simple handoff

From property Story to private HomeDiary in three steps.

Claim Home is built into participating HomeDiary property Stories. You do not need to re-upload the home's existing media or rebuild its floor plan.

Open the property Story

Use the Story or virtual-tour link you received for the home and scroll to the Claim Home section.

Select “Claim Home”

Choose the claim option and identify yourself as the buyer or seller. Both sides of the move may claim their own copy.

Sign in and submit

Sign in—or create a free HomeDiary—then complete the short request. Once verified, the home's available media is copied into your account.

Helpful tip: If you already use HomeDiary, claim with the same email and login so the home lands in the right account.

A head start, not a blank page

Keep the useful parts of the listing.

The exact content depends on what was created for the property, but a claim can bring the home's most valuable visual records with you.

▣

Professional photos

Keep a clear visual record of the home at the time of the sale.

⌑

2D floor plans

Reference rooms, dimensions, layout, and flow from one organized place.

◇

3D spaces

Plan furniture, test ideas, and visualize changes with an editable digital twin.

+

Room to grow

Add documents, inventory, service history, reminders, projects, and ideas over time.

One process, two fresh starts

Useful whether you're moving in or moving on.

The buyer and seller may each claim the home into a separate private account. One person's claim does not take the Story away from the other.

For the buyer

Start homeownership with context.

Begin with the home's existing photos and plan, then turn that foundation into a living record.

  • Plan furniture before move-in
  • Organize projects by room
  • Save maintenance and improvement history
For the seller

Keep a meaningful record.

Preserve the professional media and floor plan as a useful keepsake of the home you cared for.

  • Keep a visual record of the property
  • Retain the home's layout
  • Carry memories forward in a private account
🔒

Your Diary stays yours.

Claiming a home creates your own private copy. It does not automatically make the listing agent your HomeDiary sponsor, and it does not give another person access to everything you add later. You stay in control of your account and what you choose to share.

Good to know

Claim Home questions

Does it cost anything to claim a home?

No. Claim Home is free, and you can start a HomeDiary account without paying.

Where do I find the Claim Home button?

Open the property's HomeDiary Story or virtual tour and scroll to its Claim Home section. If you do not see one, ask the listing professional who shared the Story.

Can both the buyer and seller claim the same home?

Yes. Each person can receive a separate copy in their own private HomeDiary account.

What if I already have a HomeDiary?

Use the same email address and login when you submit the claim. That helps connect the home's content to the account you already use.

What happens after I claim it?

Once the request is verified, the available property photos and floor-plan content are copied into your HomeDiary. From there, you can add documents, inventory, projects, reminders, service history, and ideas.

Your home's next chapter already has a first page.

Open the property's Story, find Claim Home, and bring its most useful records into a HomeDiary built for everyday life.
